Dominic Mackenzie, Chair of Men's Rugby has got some exciting news about the squad for next season.

As the new season quickly draws near, we would like to make you aware of our departing players from last season and announce our new signings for the 2019-20 season.  Connor Scriven and Sam Kyle-Clay have both decided to test the water with National League rugby, joining Blackburn RFC and Kirby Lonsdale RFC respectively.  They are two very talented and ambitious young players with bright futures ahead of them.  We wish them both well.

Mark Rylance, after many years of service to Firwood Waterloo, has decided to hang up his boots.  He is an influential and experienced player who we will miss.  Finally, after playing last season for Firwood Waterloo, Joe Bradford has left the area to take up a teaching post in the Midlands.  For all four players, the door remains wide open if they choose to return.

It has been a busy close season on the recruitment front.  Alex Ward (fly half) has joined as player coach and will bring with him extensive experience of playing in the National Leagues, having previously played for Preston Grasshoppers RFC and Jersey RFC.  He is joined in the backs by Dominic Gosling (centre) who has most recently played for Collegiate RFC, having previously played for Caldy RFC.  Up front, Dave Watchorn and Will Mead are two back row players who have played their rugby at Bristol Bears and Collegiate RFC respectively.  A further addition to the back row is local lad Chris Cunningham who played a small number of games when available last season.  In the front row we are pleased welcome Niall Cooney (prop) who has just graduated to adult rugby, having played county rugby throughout the age group levels.  Liam Ridley (hooker) has also joined, adding welcome depth in this position.  We are also delighted to welcome back Josh Jenkins (prop / back row) and Matt Tindall (back row) from their travels to the Southern Hemisphere, and Tom Rodgers (second row) who has returned to the area after living in Manchester for the last couple of years.  I am sure you will look forward to welcoming all of our new recruits when you meet them over the next few weeks.

We will send out further updates as we get them.
