We are truly sorry to hear of the passing of Mike Slemen.

Although a player with Liverpool in his day he played with great distinction for Lancashire, England and the British Lions.  Later coaching with England, he did have a major influence on many Firwood Waterloo players and their families through his long career as their teacher, coaching them in the skills of rugby union at Merchant Taylors' School.

As a tribute, we perhaps can do no better than to print the words of the Chair of World Rugby, Sir Bill Beaumont, who said of Mike on the RFU website today "He gave so much to the game in his playing days, as a club and England coach and as Director of Sport at Merchant Taylors School, Crosby. He will be very much missed as someone whose generous spirit and outstanding athleticism graced our sport."

All at Firwood Waterloo wish to send their condolences to Mike's family at this time for their sad loss.
